Quick Facts
Streetcar's tend to be less than half the cost of Light Rail, faster to implement, and work more easily in an urban environment. The OCTA hopes to combine modern and historic streetcar service that will one day connect to major transportation hubs in Downtown Dallas.

Thank you all for coming out to last Thursday's fundraiser! We had a total attendance of 150, and we're still tabulating the money raised. Special thanks to city councilwoman, Elba Garcia, for coming out and showing her support. Also, we want to show our appreciation for all of the merchants who donated items. We had an extremely successful silent auction. There is a lot of exciting news to announce very shortly. We also hope to post the 3D trolley flyover animation shown at the fundraiser.

We are less than two weeks away from the Back to the Future fundraiser! So far we've lined up some great silent auction items from local area merchants. The InCap group, and Sky Modern, are preparing a 3D rendering of a proposed streetcar station, and its link to one of the planned mixed-use development projects in Oak Cliff. For anyone unfamiliar with the venue, the Ice House Banquet Hall is home of the original Southland Ice Company. Southland, which began in 1927, would gain wider attention many years later, when an enterprising employee would combine convenience items with the shops ice making business. The success of this model would completely change the stores operations, and they'd later change identity to what we all know today as 7-Eleven.

It's official! We're online and ready to continue getting the word out. So far we've been overwhelmed by the number of businesses and individuals asking how they can help. In the upcoming months, we'll be better able to answer a lot of your questions. For now, we are organizing ourselves by putting together the necessary information for assuming 501(c)(3) not-for-profit status, as well as gathering data for an initial feasability study. Our first public meeting will be announced shortly. Please sign up for our Email list so that we can add you to any future correspondance. In the meantime, be sure to avail yourself of the various incredible articles released by the Heritage Trolley association regarding streetcars and their impact on a city. To date, over twenty former streetcar lines have been reintroduced throughout the Continent in cities as small as Little Rock and as large as Philadelphia.
